Patriots' Day Weekend

It took me a couple of weeks, but here are some of the highlights from our Patriots' Day weekend. Andrew took Monday and Friday off from work, so we had a fantastic four-day weekend. Andrew and I enjoyed the long break from work to spend time with each other and our little ladybug, and Rachel loved getting to play with her daddy so much. Many thanks to my dear husband for planning such a fun-filled weekend!
We started off by spending Friday getting as much sunshine and fresh air as we could in Mystic Seaport, CT. Rachel loved looking at the old ships and the water!
Then we had a yummy seafood lunch (beginning with some chowda, of course), and Rachel tried her first french fry. She wasn't quite sure what to make of it at first...
but after a couple tries she decided it wasn't bad at all. So much for my resolutions to only ever feed her healthy foods!
We then headed to the Aquarium in Mystic, which was well worth the drive if anyone in the area is looking for a fun day trip.
Rachel got up close and personal with the Beluga whales...
The whale show was the highlight of the day. Rachel was very interested in these big, beautiful creatures...

and she clapped and clapped for them as they performed their tricks.Andrew and I pet the (slimy) manta rays...
and we all enjoyed watching the seals, dolphins, and penguins.
This is my favorite shot. She just looks so grown up in this picture.
What a little lady! She's getting so close to walking--we'll keep you posted and see whether it happens before her upcoming 1st birthday.
We spent the rest of the weekend hanging out, visiting with friends, and apparently wearing out our little munchkin. After getting back from a birthday party on Saturday afternoon, she was playing on my lap one moment and the next moment she got quiet and I realized she had fallen fast asleep, tightly clutching her little elephant "Ellie." Too adorable!

It was such a rare treat to have Andrew home with us so many days in a row. We are so grateful for all he does for our little family!
One last shot of our little princess, showing off her new waving skills. She now waves "hi" and "bye-bye" (it's super cute when she wakes up and waves hi to her stuffed animal friends or bye-bye to her books at night). So for now, "bye-bye."

She is getting so big! I need to see her! Looks like you had a great time. We miss you tons.

And PS my mom fed Marc a french fry when she came to visit for his birthday and I was horrified. But sadly now I take him to McDonald's every once in a while. Although now he prefers the apple slices to the french fries.

And also, I can't believe Rachel will just fall asleep on you like that! Neither of ours have EVER done that.

Your comments on our blog made me laugh. "Planning what bow to make to match her dress." That's funny. You should come and see us when you're down here in July. We'll be so much closer than where we are now. Hopefully our house will be cuter by then. BUT, "baby sister" will be here!
